Inserting the Search Filter Widget

Do not insert widgets within the form of an article. An error will cause the article to not appear Online.

If 'Search Filters' have been selected on a Body With Search article's Article|Criteria page, the Search Filter Widget can be inserted so that search results can be filter by the selected options. Search results can be filter by Object Type, Month, City, Venue and Category.

Search Filter Widgets can also be inserted into 'Secondary Linked Feature' articles and any filtering information will be pulled from the Body With Search article's selected 'Search Filters' and search results. If you inserting the Search Filter Widget in a secondary linked feature article, do not define filters on the article.

To build and insert the Search Filter Widget, complete the following:

  1. Open the Content Management application from the AudienceView Desktop.
  2. Select the Articles tab.
    The Articles|Search page appears.
  3. Search for and select the article that you want to work with. For more information, refer to Content Management Articles|Search Page and Performing Searches.
    The Articles|Basic page appears.
  4. Select the Text tab.
    The Articles|Text page appears.
  5. Click 'Insert Widget'.
  6. Select Search Filter Widget from the dropdown.
    The Search Filter Widget dialog box appears:
  7. Complete the following fields:
    • css Class: Enter any applicable CSS class information (with no spaces) in this field.
    • css ID: Enter any applicable CSS ID information (with no spaces) in this field.
    • css Style: Enter any applicable CSS styles that you want to apply to the search filter widget (e.g. background:blue,color:white).
      For more information, refer to AudienceView Branding Guide.
      If you do not enter any information in the fields below, they will be blank Online.
    • Dropdown Format: Enter true or t to render the search filters as dropdowns instead of hyperlinks. The article will automatically refresh when the list is filtered, and a clear search filter link appears.
    • Title: Enter the name that you want to appear for the search filter.

      For information regarding the 'Context Type' dropdowns that appear next to each of the parameter fields, refer to Using Context Types for Widget Parameters.

  8. Click 'Insert Widget'.
    The filter widget is inserted in the article text.
  9. Click 'Apply'
    A window confirms that the application updated the article.
  10. Click 'OK'.
To change any of the labels that appear in the Configure Parameters for Search Filter Widget dialog box, navigate to the Registry application Registry::EN::Application::Content Management::Widgets::Search Filter Widget node.
