Linking to a Performance in a Message

You can create links in a message to specific on-sale performances. When recipients click on the link, they will be directed to online sales page for that particular performance.

To create a link to a specific on sale performance, complete the following:

  1. Open the Correspondence application from the AudienceView Desktop.
  2. Select the Messages tab.
    The Messages|Search page appears.
  3. Select the Build tab.
    The Messages|Build page appears.
  4. Enter the message text for the link (e.g. 'Click HERE for tickets').
  5. Highlight the text that you want to build the performance link upon (e.g. 'HERE' in 'Click HERE for tickets').
If no text is selected, the link will be created using the selected performance code. The link will be inserted at the position of the cursor.
  6. Click 'Build Link' and select Performance.
The Find Performances search box appears.
  7. Search for and select the perfomance that you want to link to. For more information, refer to The Find Performances Dialog Box
The link for the performance is displayed in the 'Link' field.
  8. Select the appropriate base site for the URL in the 'Base Site URL' dropdown.
Entries available from the 'Base Site URLs' dropdown are defined in the Site URLs list. For more information, refer Configuring Lists.
  9. Optionally, select a value to categorize the link that you are embedding in the message from the 'Link Name' dropdown.
Entries available from the 'Link Name' dropdown are defined in the Link Name list. For more information, refer to Configuring Lists.
For example, you could insert a 'Link Name' of Electronic to any links that are related to electronic music performances. Then you can create a Correspondence BI query using the Response Link Name criteria or a Customer BI query using the Correspondence Response Link Name criteria to target customers who clicked on an Electronic link. For more information, refer to Business Intelligence and Reports Business Intelligence.
When users click on more than one link from an email in the same session, only the first link is registered in the audit; however, if they take further action after clicking the link (e.g. purchase the item) then the click-through is registered in the audit.
Because users have to log in to check Internal messages, links included in Internal messages are not added to the audit unless users log out or take further action after clicking the link (e.g. purchase the item).
  10. If Google Analytics has been enabled for the Correspondence application, the following fields will appear:
    • Campaign: Enter the name of the email marketing campaign (e.g. Fall 2013 Newletter)
    • Content: Enter a brief description of the content of the email (e.g. 20%-off Fall 2013 Events)
    • Medium: Enter the medium used to communicate with customers. In most cases this will be Email.
    • Source: Enter the name of the company/list used to send the email to customers. This is particularly important if your organization also uses an outside email marketing company.
  11. Click 'Insert Link'.
The performance link is inserted in the message.
  12. For every performance link that you want to add, repeat the process from Step 8.
  13. Click 'Apply'.
A window confirms that the application updated the message.
  14. Click 'OK'.
If you are using alternate site branding, apply the site brand to the inserted link. For more information, refer to Applying a Brand to a Site.
