Sorting, Grouping or Totalling Result Members

The Srt/Grp/Tot column on the Business Intelligence|Results page enables you to define how to sort, group or total the results for the corresponding result member.

The following table describes the options available:

Function Description
Ascending Sorts in ascending order (A to Z or 0 to 9)
Ascending Grouped Sorts and groups in ascending order (A to Z or 0 to 9). By grouping, if there are multiple rows in the results with the same data, they will be grouped into one row.
If you do not group those result members with a plus sign (+), the application will prompt you with a warning that such result members can return more than one row.
Descending Sorts in descending order (Z to A or 9 to 0)
Descending Grouped Sorts and groups in descending order (Z to A or 9 to 0). By grouping, if there are multiple rows in the results with the same data, they will be grouped into one row.
If you do not group those result members with a plus sign (+), the application will prompt you with a warning that such result members can return more than one row.
Side Totals Sums the row based on the grouped result member (Ascending Grouped or Descending Grouped). For an example of how this displays, refer to Example Pivot Extract – Customers with Same Last Name in Same City.
This only applies if you are creating a pivot extract (that is, using data and horizontal Display Type values). Totals do not display in Microsoft Excel extracts.
Sub and Side Totals Provides sub-totals and side totals based on the grouped result member (Ascending Grouped or Descending Grouped). For an example of how this displays, refer to Example Pivot Extract – Customers with Same Last Name in Same City.
This only applies if you are creating a pivot extract (that is, using data and horizontal Display Type values). Totals do not display in Microsoft Excel extracts.
Sub-Total Sums the result member based on the grouped result member (Ascending Grouped or Descending Grouped).
