Creating and Using an Anchor

You can create anchors, which act like links within larger documents. When readers click on an anchor link, they are taken to the anchor spot in the document. An example of an anchor link would be the top links that appear within the AudienceView documentation, which take you to the top of the page. 

Creating an Anchor

To create an anchor, complete the following:

  1. Place the cursor at the point you want to place the anchor (e.g. at the very top of the page for a top anchor).
  2. Click .
    The Anchor Properties lightbox appears.
  3. Enter the name for the anchor in the 'Anchor Name' field.
  4. Click 'OK'.
    The the anchor icon () is inserted into the text.
Information
The anchor icon displays only in the context of the Messages|Build and Article|Text pages. The icon will not be displayed in the message when it is sent nor will it appear online.

Creating a Link to an Anchor

To create a link to an anchor, complete the following:

  1. Highlight the text that you want to use as the link to the anchor.
  2. Click .
    The Link lightbox appears.
  3. Select Link to anchor in the text from the 'Link Type' dropdown.
  4. Select the desired anchor from the 'Select an Anchor By Anchor Name' dropdown (e.g. the top anchor for a top link).
  5. Click 'OK'.
    The internal link to the anchor is displayed on the selected text.
