Defining Meta Tags by Site

Adding Meta Tags to the META Tags List

Before you can use certain meta tags, you must first add them to the META Tags list:

  1. Open the General Configuration application from the AudienceView Desktop.
  2. Select the Lists tab.
    The Lists|Select page appears.
  3. Search for and select the list the META Tags list. For more information, refer to General Configuration Lists-Search Page and Performing Searches.
    The Lists|Basic page appears.
  4. Select the Entries tab.
    The Lists|Entries page appears.
  5. Enter the meta tag that you want to use in the 'Key' field (e.g. keywords).
    For more information on the acceptable meta tags, refer to w3schools.com - meta name properties.
  6. Click 'Add Entry'.
    The new entry is added to the list entries table.
  7. Specify the value that you want to use to identify the meta tag in the 'English' field.
  8. For any additional meta tags that you want to add to the list, repeat the process from Step 5.
  9. Click 'Create'.
    A window confirms that the application updated the list.
  10. Click 'OK'.

Applying Meta Tags to a Site

  1. Open the Content Management application from the AudienceView Desktop.
    The Sites|Search page appears.
  2. Search for and select the site that you want to work with. For more information, refer to the Content Management Sites-Search Page and Performing Searches.
    The Sites|Basic page appears.
  3. Select the Applications tab.
    The Sites|Applications page appears.
  4. Click 'Add META Tag'.
    A meta tag row appears.
  5. Select the meta tag that you want to use from the 'Name' dropdown (e.g. keywords).
  6. Enter the value of the meta tag in the 'Value' field (e.g. if you selected keywords from the 'Name' dropdown, enter the keywords that you want associated to the site, such as music, theatre, play).

  7. For every meta tag that you want to add, repeat the process from Step 4.
  8. Click 'Apply'.
    A window confirms that the application updated the site.
  9. Click 'OK'.

Meta tags can also be set per article via the Content Management application Articles|Applications page. Meta tags defined against an article will override those set against the site. For more information, refer to Defining Meta Tags for a Specific Article.
