Linking to a Gift in an Article

You can create links in a message to specific on-sale gifts. When users click on the link, they will be directed to online sales page for that particular gift.

To build a link to a gift, complete the following:

  1. Open the Content Management application from the AudienceView Desktop.
  2. Select the Articles Tab.
    The Articles|Search page appears.
  3. Search for and select the article that you want to work with. For more information, refer to the Content Management - Articles|Search Page and Performing Searches.
    The Articles|Basic pages appears.
  4. Select the Text tab.
    The Articles|Text page appears.
  5. Ensure that the 'Source' button is not selected. Selecting the 'Source' button activates the source code view of the article and will not allow you to use the Rich Text editor.

  6. Enter the article text for the link (e.g. 'Click HERE to donate').
  7. Highlight the text that you want to build the item link upon (e.g. 'HERE' in 'Click HERE to donate').
    If no text is selected, the link will be created using the gift name. The link will be inserted at the position of the cursor.
  8. Click 'Build Link' and select Gift.
    The Find Gift dialog box appears.
  9. Search for and select the gift that you want to link to. For more information, refer to The Find Gifts Dialog Box or Performing Searches.
    A code for a link to the selected gift appears in the 'Link' and 'Link Tag' fields.
  10. Optionally, select a value to categorize the link that you are embedding in the article from the 'Link Name' dropdown.
    Entries available from the 'Link Name' dropdown are defined in the Link Name list. For more information, refer to Configuring Lists.
    Information
    For example, you could insert a 'Link Name' of Children's Workshops to any links that are related to gifts that will be put towards workshops for children. Then you can create a Correspondence BI query using the Response Link Name criteria or a Customer BI query using the Correspondence Response Link Name criteria to target customers who clicked on a Children's Workshops link.   11. If you want to use the article/link only for AudienceView Online, click 'Insert Link'.
    The gift link is inserted.
  12. If you want use the article/link in the AudienceView Desktop and online, then click 'Insert Link Tag'.
    The gift link tag is inserted.
  13. For every gift link that you want to add, repeat the process from Step 6.
  14. Click 'Apply'
    A window confirms that the application updated the article.
  15. Click 'OK'.
