Creating a Performance Limit

You can set a limit on how many admissions can be purchased under various scenarios, including how many can be purchased for a particular performance. This provides an efficient and flexible way to control admission inventory and pricing.

To set a performance limit, complete the following:

  1. Open the Venue Configuration application from the AudienceView Desktop.
  2. Select the Performances tab.
    The Performances|Search page appears.
  3. Search for and select the performance that you want to add a limit to. For more information, refer to the Venue Configuration Performances-Search Page and Performing Searches.
    The Performancess|Basic page appears.
  4. Select the Limits tab.
    The Performances|Limits page appears.
  5. Select one of the following options from the 'Customer Group' dropdown menu:
    • Customer: The customer group limit will be applied per customer account.
    • None: No admission counting will be performed.
      Hint
Customer must be selected when setting a 'Cap' limit. The system will allow you to create a 'Cap' limit if None is selected, but the limit will not be effective.
  6. Click 'Add Limit'.
    A new limit row appears.
  7. Select the role(s) that you would like to apply the new limit to.
To select more than one role, hold CTRL or SHIFT while making your selections.
    Hint
If limits are set against a particular role, all roles will be required to add a customer to their orders so that the purchases can be tracked and then the limits can enforced when appropriate.
  8. Enter a value in the 'Min/Order' field.
This is the minimum number of admissions that can be purchased per order for this performance. If a value is not entered, no minimun per order restriction is applied.
  9. Enter a value in the 'Max/Order' field.
This is the maximum number of admissions that can be purchased per order for this performance. If a value is not entered, no maximum per order restriction is applied.
  10. Enter a value in the 'Increment' field.
This is the incremental number of admissions that can be purchased per order for this performance (e.g. if this is set to 2 then customers can purchase 2, 4, 6 admissions and so on). If a value is not entered, no incremental restriction is applied.
  11. Enter a value in the 'Cap' field.
This is the maximum number of admissions that can be purchased for the selected 'Customer Group' option. If a value is not entered, no 'Cap' limit is applied.
    Hint
Do not enter a limit if you do not require one. Setting the 'Cap' to an arbitrary number, such as 99, could affect the application's performance.
  12. Enter a date in the 'Start Date' field or click to select a date.
This is the date when the limit will take effect. For more information, refer to Using a Calendar to Add a Date.
  13. Enter a date in the 'End Date' field or click to select a date.
This is the date that the limit ends. For more information, refer to Using a Calendar to Add a Date.
  14. For every limit that you want to add, repeat the process from Step 6.
  15. Click 'Apply'.
A window confirms that the application updated the performance.
  16. Click 'OK'.
