How the Google Analytics Feed Works

Google Analytics takes basic information from an AudienceView feed to create its analytics and reports. The outputs are provided by AudienceView in a specific feed. AudienceView has provided additional information inside of the addTransaction tag that is used by Google Analytics. Google Analytics in turn receives the feed, captures the required information from the feed in its JScript logs, and processes the information for reports.

The additional fields added to the addTransaction tag are:

  • Order Number
  • Shipping Total
  • Order Total
  • City
  • State
  • Country

Google tracks the necessary information using a Google Analytics account number, and an affiliation.

Information
For Google Analytics to accept the feed from AudienceView and provide reports, it is necessary that your organization have a Google Analytics account. Without the account and affiliation information, your organization will not be able to use the Google Analytics package.
