Generating a Tax Receipt

Typically tax receipts are printed in a batch using the Utilities application. However, you can manually generate a receipt using the Order|Gifts page if a payment has been allocated to the gift and you have the appropriate permissions. By manually generating a tax receipt, you can issue the receipt for an amount other than the receiptable amount. For example, if a gift stretches across fiscal years you may need to generate two tax receipts.

Once a receipt has been generated, for tracking purposes, the application considers the gift a received gift. Manually generating a tax receipt will not create a tax receipt number. A tax receipt number is only assigned if the tax receipt is generated from the Utilities application.
