Using Gift Certificates and Gift Cards to Make a Payment

When making a payment using a gift certificate/card, you must enter the gift certificate/card number and redemption number.

If a balance remains on a gift certificate/gift card after it has been used to make a payment, the gift certificate/gift card will be updated with the remaining available balance.

To make a payment using a gift certificate/card, complete the following:

  1. Open the Customer Services application from the AudienceView Desktop.
  2. Select the Order tab.
    The Order|Search page appears.
  3. Search for and select the order that you want to work with. For more information, refer to Searching for an Order.
    The Order|Summary page appears.
  4. Click 'Add Payment'.
    The Payments dialog box appears.
  5. Select Gift Certificate or Gift Card from the 'Payment Method' dropdown.
    The Payments dialog box refreshes to display the applicable information.

    The default 'Payment Amount' is the amount owing on the order.
  6. Verify the 'Payment Amount' and make any necessary modifications.
  7. Enter the 'Gift Certificate Number' or 'Gift Card Number'.
  8. Enter the redemption number in the 'Gift Certification Number' or 'Gift Card Redemption Number' field.
  9. Add additional notes about the payment, using the 'Memo' field.
  10. Optionally, if the payment method has a 'Storage Type' of Saveable you can select the 'Save Payment Details' check box to save the payment information to the payment information section on the Customer|Basic page of the customer's account.
    Alternatively, if the payment information section on the Customer|Basic page has been filled out or if the customer has selected the 'Save Payment Details' check box Online, the information will automatically populate when 'Add Payment' is clicked.
  11. Click 'Add Payment'.
    The Payments dialog box closes and the Order|Summary page becomes active. The unprocessed payment is added to the order.
  12. Click 'Apply' or 'Create'.
    A window confirms that the application updated the order.
  13. Click 'OK'.

For gift cards, if a balance remains on the gift card, the amount available on the card updates. For more information, refer to Viewing the Details of a Gift Certificate or Gift Card.

For gift certificates, if a balance remains, a new gift certificate is added to the order with a new number. The gift certificate must be printed to be assigned a new redemption number. By default, the new gift certificate has the same recipient name and printed message as the original gift certificate, but you can change the recipient name and printed message once the gift certificate has been created. The new gift certificate and the original gift certificate can be viewed using the Gift Certs/Cards tab. For more information, refer to Selling Gift Certificates and Gift Cards.
