Binding a List to a Field

You can bind a list to a field so that the field becomes a multi-select field, restricting the options that can be entered/selected.

Before binding a list to a field, ensure that the list has been created and contains the desired entries. For more information, refer to General Configuration - Lists.

To bind a list to a field, complete the following:

  1. Open the Registry application from the AudienceView Desktop.
  2. Navigate to the desired node. For example, the Registry::EN::TSperformanceBO::Performance::Keyword node.
  3. Click  in the 'Lists' field.
  4. Search for and select the list that you want to bind to the field by typing the name of the list in the available field. For example, the Performance Keyword list.
  5. Click 'OK'.
The list name appears in the 'Lists' field.
    Information
Only one list can be bound to a field at any given time.
  6. Choose an option:
    • To restrict users to using options from the selected list: Select No from the 'Unbound' dropdown.
    • To enable users to add a value to the list: Select Yes from the 'Unbound' dropdown.
    • To restrict users to only one selection: Enter 1 in the 'Maximum Number of Values' field. This creates a dropdown.
You can also restrict users from entering their own values using the 'Unbound' dropdown.
      • No: Restricts the users to the configured list.
      • Yes: Enables users to enter their own value.
    • To enable users to select multiple options: Enter a value in the 'Maximum Number of Values' field. This creates a list box.
You can also restrict users from entering their own values using the 'Unbound' dropdown.
      • No: Restricts the users to the configured list.
      • Yes: Enables users to enter their own value.
  7. Click 'Apply'.
A window confirms that the application updated the Registry.
  8. Click 'OK'.

Once you have attached a list to a field in the Registry you can optionally restrict the list's values by user or group.
For more information refer to Configuring User Attributes and Configuring Group Attributes.

Hint
If you bind a list to a field and you want to be able to report against that field in Business Intelligence, bind the list to the same field in the corresponding Collection Object.
