Registry Business Objects Category

This category enables you to set up rules that control the behaviour of each field the user may encounter while using the system.

Several of the categories use a number of common fields listed in the table below and referred to later in the chapter.

Field Description
Default Value The initial value of the field, before the user makes any changes.
Label The name of the category as it is displayed in the user interface.
Format For fields that are dates or date/times, you can select the date or date/time format to display the data.
To set the date format across the application, refer to Defining the Default Date and Time Format.
List Click  to search for and select a list of possible entries in the field. Lists can be created and modified in the General Configuration application.

Maximum Length Maximum number of characters that can be entered in this field.
Maximum Number of Values If you selected a list and the list is enabled for multiple selections, this field specifies the maximum number of values that the field can have.
Maximum Value Largest numerical value that can be entered in this field.
Minimum Length Minimum number of characters that can be entered in this field.
Minimum Value Smallest numerical value that can be entered in this field
Mode Specifies the accessibility of this marketing data field. The mode options are:
  • Unbound: Specifies whether the field is bound to the specified list (No) or enabled for users to enter their own value (Yes).
  • Persistable: Specifies that the field information can be saved to the database.
  • Optional: Specifies whether the field is optional.
  • Readable: Select Yes to enable users to see this field on their interface.
  • Writeable: Select Yes to enable users to set a value for this field.
  • Masked: Select Yes to enable data masking. You must then specify how to mask the data using the Mask field.

    The three possible settings are:
    • Default: the generally anticipated use of the field.
    • Yes: field option is active (e.g. 'Optional' set to Yes indicates an optional field).
    • No: field option is not active (e.g. 'Optional' set to No indicates a mandatory field).
Subtype Subtypes can alter the way data is presented or to validate that the information entered is in a correct format. The following subtypes are available, however not all are available for all fields:
  • Appeal: Makes the field an 'Appeals' field (), allowing you to enter the appeal directly or to search for it using The Find Appeals Dialog Box.
  • Article: Makes the field an 'Articles' field (), allowing you to enter the article directly or to search for it using The Find Articles Dialog Box.
  • Benefits: Makes the field a 'Benefits' field (), allowing you to enter the benefit directly or to search for it using The Find Benefits Dialog Box.
  • Bundle: Makes the field a 'Bundles' field (), allowing you to enter the bundle directly or to search for it using The Find Bundles Dialog Box.
  • Campaign: Makes the field a 'Campaign' field (), allowing you to enter the campaign directly or to search for it using The Find Campaigns Dialog Box.
  • Colour: Makes the field a colour selection field ().

  • Compressed Multi: Information enter into a compressed multi field is stored to the database using a compressed format.
  • Customer: Makes the field a 'Customers' field (), allowing you to enter the customer number directly or to search for it using The Find Customers Dialog Box.
  • Date Time: Makes the field a date/time field (), allowing you to enter/select a date and time.

  • Date: Makes the field a date field (), allowing you to enter/select a date.

  • Day of Week: Makes the field a day of the week field, allowing you to enter a day of the week (e.g. Monday, Tuesday).
  • Duration Date Only: Makes the field a date/duration field ( and ), allowing you to enter/select a date or a relative date.

  • Duration: Makes the field a date/duration field ( and ), allowing you to enter/select a date and time or a relative date and time.

  • Email: Makes the field an email address field (). Clicking will open a new email message to the corresponding email address.
  • File Name: Makes the field a file name field, validating that the file name contains an acceptable file extension.
  • Fixed Value Rate: Makes the field a fixed value field. Values entered in these field must be fixed monetary values to two decimal places.
  • Gifts: Makes the field a 'Gifts' field (), allowing you to enter the gift directly or to search for it using The Find Gifts Dialog Box.
  • Membership: Makes the field a 'Memberships' field (), allowing you to enter the membership directly or to search for it using The Find Memberships Dialog Box.
  • Membership Level: Makes the field a 'Membership Level' field (), allowing you to enter the membership level directly or to search for it.
  • Miscellaneous Item: Makes the field a 'Miscellaneous Items' field (), allowing you to enter the miscellaneous item directly or to search for it using The Find Miscellaneous Items Dialog Box.
  • Order: Makes the field an 'Orders' field (), allowing you to enter the order number directly or to search for it using The Find Orders Dialog Box.
  • Percentage Rate: Makes the field a percent based field. Values entered in these fields must be followed by a % symbol.
  • Performance: Makes the field a 'Performances' field (), allowing you to enter the performance(s) directly or to search for it using The Find Performances Dialog Box.
  • Phone Number: Makes the field a phone number field. The field will validate that the phone number does not contain alpha characters.
  • Postal Code/Zip Code: Makes the field a postal/zip code field. The field will validate against the selected country's postal/zip code format.
  • Price Chart: Makes the field a 'Price Charts' field (), allowing you to enter the price chart directly or to search for it using The Find Price Charts Dialog Box.
  • Program: Makes the field a 'Programs' field (), allowing you to enter the program directly or to search for it using The Find Programs Dialog Box.
  • Promotion: Makes the field a 'Promotion' field (), allowing you to enter the promotion directly or to search for it using The Find Promotion Codes Dialog Box.
  • Question: Makes the field a 'Question' field (), allowing you to enter the question directly or to search for it using The Find Questions Dialog Box.
  • Saved Lists: Makes the field a 'Saved List' field (), allowing you to enter the saved list directly or to search for it using The Find Saved Lists Dialog Box.
  • Series: Makes the field a 'Series' field (), allowing you to enter the series directly or to search for it using The Find Series Dialog Box.
  • Standard: Makes the field a standard field, allowing you to enter any value into the field. Leaving the 'Subtype' blank will have the same effect.
  • Subtype Mode: Sets the Yes/No/Default mechanism used with Registry subtypes.
  • Time: Makes the field a time field, allowing you to enter exact times of day (e.g. 10:15 AM, 14:23).
  • URL: Makes the field a 'Bundles' field (), allowing you to enter a web address linking to a site or an image. Clicking  will open a new browser window and direct it to the corresponding URL. This is done to verify that the address is correct.
  • User: Makes the field a 'Users' field (), allowing you to enter the user directly or to search for it using The Find Users Dialog Box.
